Dragon Age: Veilguard is a world filled with powerful enemies and mysterious creatures. It also offers challenging quests. Heart of Corruption is one of the most challenging missions. It requires effort, but rewards are significant. The quest will allow players to access the Crossroads Gate, and provide their characters with items which are essential to progressing through the game.
The quest is divided into many different stages, and you will need to defeat dangerous enemies spread around the globe. This guide will assist you in completing the entire task from finding Champion entities up to fighting the final boss. You can complete your quest by following the Heart of Corruption instructions and earning the rewards that you deserve.
Finding the Champion Entities
To unlock the door, first you must open the Crossroads’ locked door, which has three locks. You’ll have to collect three Champion Essences in order to unlock the door.
Champion’s Essence 1 – Gate of Deep Sorrows
First essence can be found on Treviso’s rooftops. You will need to battle a large Ogre called Desmel who is the Blood Servant Elgernan and has bloody magic skills. He is level 25, so prepare for a tough battle.
Champion Entity 2 – Gate of Parched Hope
Second entity: located to the north-east of Arlatan forest, in an overrun building. You will need to fight a large number of dark creatures before you can destroy the Nest of Corruption.
Essence of the Champion 3 – Gate of Pale Reflections
In the middle of the Hossberg Swamps, you will find the last essence. You will first have to fight enemies, and then a powerful Ogre called Amarell The Unknown. This place must be cleared of all enemies before you can summon this powerful enemy.
Battles with the Revenants
Three Revenant bosses are unlocked for each of the Champion entities. They are among the hardest enemies in the game and will require all three entities to be destroyed. You can unlock the Crossroads gate by defeating them.
Revenant Entity 1 – Betrayal of Felassan
The level 32 Boss is found in Convergence City. He is a dangerous threat. This boss has several attacks that cover a wide area, a shield to deflect the attacks and can summon minions in order to distract the enemy. You will get the Revenant Essence and amulet Burden after the win.
- Damage +20% at Low Health
- Bonuses are activated at low health
- The health cannot be more than 70%.
Essence of the Revenant 2 – Slaughter of the Pillars
The boss can be found in Elvenan’s Sanctuary, at the Crossroads. This boss is also a level 37 and has the same shield, but summons his minions in order to make you weaker during battle. His attack pattern may be slightly different. You will get the second Revenant Essence and Andraste’s Will Ring with these effects after defeating the boss.
- +50% burn duration
- Burn effects can be increased by +10%
- Burn all your effects stacked together
Essence of the Revenant 3 – Fall of the Protector
You will find the last boss in Athym’s Heights. It is behind a gate, on a raised platform. After you defeat the zombie horde, the boss will show up – an Ice Mage that levitates over the ground.
You will get the Revenant Essence and an item unique to your class after you win. The Optimist’s Span is a two handed sword that has the following effect for a rogue.
- Attacks in the air will cause 100% more damage
- Damage reduction of -30% when attacking the ground
Battle with the Revenant Dragon
You can now return to that locked gate at the start and unlock it with all three Revenants. You will be faced with the last challenge after a short trip – a Revenant Dragon of level 50.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind when playing this dragon. It has an armor layer on its health bar which forces you to concentrate on strong attacks. Second, at different stages in the fight, the dragon will change the attack element: from fire to frost and then shock.
You can still get Mital’s help if you convince her beforehand to share her essence with you. You can fight the dragon easier if she appears in her dragon-like form. To win, you’ll also need to keep a stock of reviving potion and stay away from dangerous attacks.
You will be closer to the achievement “Overthrowing the Heavens”, which is to defeat all the high-level dragons. You will also receive an exclusive Last Frontier ring that has effects.
Your damage will increase by 20% when you hit an enemy with an attack.
